Porto Alegre

Porto Alegre is the capital of the state of Rio Grande do Sul and is the most important southern Brazilian city in Latin America. It’s an important economic and commercial center and is known of its quality of live wich is compared with many cities in Europe. The city owns several cultural complexes such as 21 museuns, 22 teathres, 15 libraries and 10 cultural centers.

Quality wich is selected by an intense and vibrant cultural yearound program and also by sophisticated shopping centers.

Porto Alegre is surrounded by a big lake – the Guaíba – and for the ondulation of 40 wills. In the lake there are a bunch of islands in front of the city that forms an odd archipelago where habits an exuberant wildlife. The city centralize 28% of the native plants of the state of Rio Grande do Sul or, better 9.288 species.

From these, many are trees from the remaining Atlantic Forest.

The fauna is also diverse specially on the islands and mountains. Porto Alegre has a special way of living together with many parks, squares and a lot of arbored streets.


Climate

Subtropical humid with 4 seasons. The temperature is between 25° C and 35° C in the summer (December – march) and 2° and 15° in winter time (June – September).
